Watching the Tasman Makos rugby team in the Air New Zealand Cup (ANZC) will be cheaper this season.
New prices announced yesterday feature three-game packages at either Lansdowne or Trafalgar parks for $60. That's $20 per game for a grandstand seat. Last year a seat in either grandstand cost $45.
A seven-match pass, which includes the six home ANZC fixtures three at Lansdowne and three at Trafalgar plus the pre-season match against Otago in Nelson on July 18, costs $130.
There's also special one-match family concession tickets including a Take a Kid to Footie package which includes one adult and two children and costs $15.
The Take a Family To Footie deal, two adults and three children, costs $30 per match. There's also the cheaper option this year of sitting on the bank at both venues for $15.
Makos' marketing manager, Butch Bradley, said there were two key factors in deciding the prices.
"It's a tight economy and we wanted to make sure families (kids) could come along to the games and it's a chance to say thanks to all the supporters who have hung in there during our toughest times."
Bradley says, "we want both the parks full, in Blenheim and Nelson, with supporters and families enjoying the Makos. The easiest way to achieve that is to make it as affordable as we possibly can for everyone to come."
Season tickets are now on sale at the Marlborough Civic Theatre, at selected New World supermarkets or online at ticketdirect.co.nz, or by phoning 0800 4 TICKET.
The Makos have another pre-season hit-out in Blenheim on Thursday, July 23, when they take on the Nelson Bays and Marlborough Sub-Union representative teams, playing each side for 40 minutes.
The Makos team for the Air New Zealand Cup competition will be named on July 5 and the team will go into camp for several days in the Canvastown area as they build towards the competition opener against Taranaki at Lansdowne Park on Thursday, July 30, at 7.35pm.
The other home games are:
v Counties Manukau at Trafalgar Park, Sunday, August 16, at 2.35pm
v Manawatu at Trafalgar Park, Saturday, September 5, at 2.35
v Waikato at Lansdowne Park, Friday, September 11, at 7.35pm
