The Tasman Makos Maori side had its first win for the season on Saturday, taking down Canterbury Maori Colts 30-19 at Lansdowne Park in Blenheim.
After playing a full game for the Marlborough Under 18 side, upcoming Central player Rawiti Tamati was drafted in as a last minute substitute and ran in the team’s first try.
Open side flanker George Love earned player of the day with two early tries and scored a third late in the second half.
Blain Bristow and Captain Tere Wycliff stood out in a fantastic forward effort, with Israel Stone and Dave Posa, who scored a try and kicked the remainder of the points, the pick of the backline.
