The Central under-18 rugby team's winning streak came to an end when they lost to Nelson College's 2nd XV 29-7 in Nelson on Saturday.
Nelson opened the scoring after a midfield breakout, which was converted to give the home side a 7-0 lead.
But the Blues recovered and replied with a Gareth Smith try and conversion to level the scores at the break.
Although Central started well in the second half they could not convert their pressure into points.
Nelson took the game away from the visitors in a 10-minute spell with three long-range tries taking advantage of weak tackling.
Central went close to scoring twice but could not get over the line, before Nelson wrapped up the game with a try under the posts in the last minute.
Central have a bye next week which will allow players on their extensive injury list to recuperate.
In the division two competition, Harlequins continue to set the pace, notching a 22-5 win over Moutere. Other winners were Awatere and Renwick.
