The strong, four-year relationship between the Tasman Makos and SBS Bank is set to continue into the newly-branded ITM premier rugby cup season for their fifth season of competition.
Tasman Rugby Union chief executive Peter Barr said their principal and major sponsors for the past four years had again both confirmed their commitment to the Tasman Makos for the 2010 season, with one modification – SBS Bank and Golden Edge would be exchanging their sponsorship levels.
“We’re always extremely grateful for the support of all of our sponsors and the ongoing support of SBS Bank as a major sponsor for the next season is fantastic.
“Next to having dedicated management and competitive team, the community partnerships that we have are invaluable in enhancing our ability to be competitive and enjoy success on the field.
“Everyone here at Tasman is pleased to have SBS Bank getting behind us for another two seasons.”
SBS Bank general manager corporate performance Lana Winders said SBS Bank was proud to continue their support for the Tasman Makos as the major sponsor for this year’s ITM Cup
“Our initial three-year partnership with the Makos was timely for SBS Bank to help leverage the profile of our newly established Blenheim branch. The well-designed Makos jerseys provided even greater incentive because of the sponsor exposure they offer.
“When the chips were down for the Makos last year, it was the spirit and passion of the Nelson and Marlborough communities behind their side that encouraged us to extend our principal contract for a further year.
“Now, in recognition of how strongly our SBS Bank profile and market share has grown in the region as a result of the partnership, we are back on board for a further two years as the major sponsor. It is also a nod of respect to Peter and the TRU management team for their tireless work in running such a professional organisation against some challenging odds.
